Non-Resident Pitches – Lille Braderie 2026
You do not live in Lille but want to sell at Europe's largest flea market on 5 and 6 September 2026? Here is the complete guide.
The ballot system for non-residents
The Lille Braderie attracts thousands of applicants each year wishing to sell on the pavements of the capital of Flanders. If you are not a Lille resident, you belong to the non-resident category. Unlike residents who benefit from priority rights in front of their home, non-residents must go through a ballot organised by Lille City Hall.
This system exists to guarantee a fair distribution of available pitches, as demand far exceeds supply. Each year, tens of thousands of applications are submitted for just a few thousand places. It is therefore essential to understand the process thoroughly and prepare your application carefully to maximise your chances.
📋 In brief: the ballot
Non-resident pitch allocation is done by random computer ballot. Each valid application has exactly the same chance of being selected. There is no preference based on seniority or type of goods sold. Only one application per person is accepted.
How to apply: detailed steps
Here is the complete process for submitting your application as a non-resident at the Lille Braderie 2026:
- Wait for registration to open: Lille City Hall generally opens registrations between May and June. The announcement is published on the official City of Lille website and on its social media channels.
- Access the online form: go to the dedicated City Hall platform. Create an account if necessary and fill in the application form.
- Provide the required documents: upload the supporting documents requested (see the documents section below).
- Validate your application: check all information and submit the form before the deadline. Keep your confirmation number safe.
- Await the ballot results: the draw generally takes place in July. You will be notified by email of the result.
- Confirm and pay for your pitch: if selected, you must confirm your participation and pay the pitch fees within the indicated timeframe.
Documents required for the application
To submit a valid application, you will generally need to provide the following documents:
| Document | Details | Accepted format |
|---|---|---|
| Identity document | Valid national identity card or passport | Scan or legible photo (PDF, JPG, PNG) |
| Proof of address | Recent utility bill (less than 3 months old) proving you do not live within the Braderie perimeter | Scan or legible photo |
| Sworn declaration | Declaration that you are selling personal second-hand items (non-professional) | Form integrated into the online application |
| SIRET number (if professional) | Mandatory if you are registered as a professional dealer in second-hand goods or antiques | K-bis extract or INSEE certificate |

Designated zones for non-residents
Non-resident pitches are not spread across the entire Braderie perimeter. The City Hall defines specific zones reserved for external sellers. These zones are generally located in streets where there are fewer resident-sellers, thus complementing the offering and ensuring maximum coverage of the event.
When applying, you can express a zone preference, but the final pitch is allocated by the City Hall based on availability. It is not guaranteed that you will get the requested zone. The precise location (street number, odd or even side) is communicated in the confirmation letter.
Pitch fees
Unlike residents who benefit from free pitches, non-residents must pay pitch fees. These fees cover the use of public land, logistics and post-event cleaning.
Indicative rates (subject to official confirmation)
Fees vary depending on the pitch size and allocated zone. As a guide, expect between €20 and €50 for a standard pitch of 2 to 4 metres frontage. The exact rates for 2026 will be communicated when registration opens. Payment is made online by bank card after confirmation of your selection.
Private individual or professional: what is the difference?
The Lille Braderie welcomes both private individuals and professionals in second-hand goods or antiques. It is important to correctly identify your status, as the obligations differ:
| Criterion | Private individual | Professional |
|---|---|---|
| Registration | Standard form with sworn declaration | Form with SIRET number and K-bis extract |
| Type of sale | Personal second-hand items only | Second-hand goods, bric-a-brac, antiques |
| Frequency | Maximum 2 boot sales per year | No limitation |
| Tax obligations | No declaration if occasional sale | Mandatory income declaration |
| Register | Not required | Mandatory police register |
If you are occasionally selling personal items you no longer use, you are considered a private individual. However, if you buy items with the intention of reselling them regularly, you are carrying out a commercial activity and must be registered as a professional.
What to do if you are not selected in the ballot?
Do not despair if your name is not drawn. Here are several alternatives:
- Waiting list: some selected applicants do not confirm their pitch. The City Hall may then call upon candidates from the supplementary list. Keep an eye on your emails.
- Join a resident: if you know a Lille resident who is taking part in the Braderie, you can offer to share their pitch (with their agreement and under their responsibility).
- Come as a bargain hunter: enjoy the Braderie as a buyer anyway. It is an opportunity to find treasures and scout the best pitches to try your luck the following year.
- Metropolitan flea markets: many towns in the Lille metropolitan area (Roubaix, Tourcoing, Villeneuve-d'Ascq) also organise flea markets during the same period.
- Try again next year: the ballot is renewed each year. Do not hesitate to register again for the following edition.
Tips to maximise your chances and succeed at the Braderie
Here are our recommendations for non-resident sellers:
- Register as soon as it opens: although the ballot is random, a complete application submitted promptly avoids last-minute technical issues.
- Check your application: any incomplete application is automatically rejected. Make sure all documents are legible and up to date.
- One application only: duplicates are systematically eliminated. Submit only one application per person.
- Plan your logistics: if you are coming from far away, book your accommodation in advance. Lille hotels fill up very quickly around the Braderie.
- Arrive early on the day: plan to arrive several hours before the opening to set up your stall in good conditions. Parking will be very difficult near the perimeter.
- Transport your equipment efficiently: use a trolley or hand truck to move your boxes from the nearest car park to your pitch.
