The Braderie de Lille half-marathon is much more than a race: it is a unique experience. Running 21 kilometres amid flea market stalls, carried by the enthusiasm of hundreds of thousands of spectators, is a memory runners never forget. Here is everything you need to know to take part in the 2026 edition.
A route through the heart of the festivities
The Braderie half-marathon takes place on Saturday morning, just as the stalls have opened. The start is given from the Champ-de-Mars esplanade, at the foot of the Vauban Citadel. The route passes through Lille's finest neighbourhoods: Vieux-Lille, the Grand'Place, the Rue de Béthune, Wazemmes and the quays of the Deûle.
What makes this race exceptional is the atmosphere. Bargain hunters, restaurateurs and onlookers cheer the runners throughout the route. The finish, near the Citadel, takes place to the applause of a warm and dense crowd.
Registration and details
Registration generally opens in spring on the official race website. The number of places is limited to around 8,000 runners and bibs sell out fast. The entry fee is around 30-40 euros. A medical certificate less than one year old is required. Full details on our half-marathon page.
Training tips
- 12 weeks before: start a progressive training programme with 3 to 4 runs per week
- Long runs: a weekly long run (15-18 km) is essential for building endurance
- The course is flat: take advantage of Lille's terrain (virtually flat) to work on your speed
- Hydration: refreshment stations are provided every 5 km on the course
On the day
The start is generally set at 10 am on Saturday morning. Arrive at least one hour early to collect your bib and warm up. Take into account the modified access due to the Braderie: check the transport information beforehand. After the race, you will have well earned your moules-frites!
