The Braderie de Lille 2026 packed away its stalls on Sunday 6 September at 11pm. A few days later, the City of Lille published its assessment. It confirms what hunters had felt in the streets: this was the best-attended edition in the event's recent history.
2.5 million visitors in 34 hours
One number sums up the weekend: more than 2.5 million people walked the streets of Lille during the 34 hours of continuous opening, from 8am Saturday to 11pm Sunday. That is 8% up on 2025, which already held the record.
Set against the duration of the event, it works out at roughly 73,000 visitors an hour, day and night alike. Few events in Europe sustain that pace across a weekend.
5,425 stallholders along 53 kilometres of stalls
Organisers counted 5,425 stallholders, spread over a combined 53 kilometres of stalls. The breakdown shows the hybrid nature of the Braderie:
- 2,769 residents' stalls, the historic heart of the event;
- 1,877 shops from Lille trading outside their own windows;
- 514 professional antique and second-hand dealers.

An operation on the scale of the event
To hold this format together, the city deployed more than 600 staff. The arrangements included 16 first-aid posts, 145 municipal police officers, 640 concrete blocks and 1,571 barriers to channel the flow of people and protect the pedestrian areas.
On cleaning, 384 tonnes of waste were collected — a figure divided by three over about a decade, thanks to sorting and to reduced packaging.
The children's Braderie holds its own
At Saint-Sauveur station, the children's Braderie offered 90 stalls and welcomed 18,500 visitors on the Saturday alone. It remains one of the most popular fixtures for families.
