Five days. That is all that separates Lille from its 2026 Braderie on 5 and 6 September. The city is entering its final week of preparation, and for visitors it is time to tie up the last details. Here is what remains to be sorted.
Accommodation: the last window
If you have not booked yet, it is becoming urgent. Central Lille has been full for a long time, but options remain on the outskirts and along the metro lines. Our accommodation and rentals pages list the possibilities, and our article on unusual accommodation suggests less obvious leads.
One often overlooked alternative: staying in Roubaix, Tourcoing or Villeneuve-d'Ascq, around twenty minutes from the centre by metro. Rates there are noticeably gentler and access remains straightforward.
Locking in your transport
Trains to Lille fill up quickly for this weekend. If you are coming by train, book now: the two central stations, Lille-Flandres and Lille-Europe, are a few minutes' walk from the Braderie.
For those driving, the watchword is not to expect parking near the centre. The area closed to traffic extends widely from Friday evening. Aim for a park-and-ride on the outskirts and finish by metro: it is faster and infinitely less stressful. See our car page.
Planning your route
The Braderie covers around a hundred kilometres of stalls: walking all of it is an illusion. Better to target two or three areas depending on what you are looking for. Download the map and consult the interactive map to pinpoint your zones.
Think about the parallel activities too: the half-marathon on Saturday morning, the comic book fair or the funfair deserve a slot in the schedule.
The final checks
Withdraw cash before the weekend, pack using our bargain hunter's checklist, and watch the weather from Wednesday onwards. Finally, reread the safety guidance if you are coming as a group or with children.
