Behind the 2.5 million visitors to the Braderie de Lille 2026 lies a less visible but equally telling performance: that of the metropolitan transport network.
An all-time high
Across 4, 5 and 6 September, Ilévia counted 1.56 million validations network-wide. That is an outright record, up 8% on the previous edition, which already held the best mark.
Growth touched every mode, though not at the same pace:
- Metro: +10%, carried by the two automated lines serving the heart of the area;
- Tram: +11%, the sharpest rise, on the links towards Roubaix and Tourcoing;
- Bus: +1%, understandably held back by diversions around the closed streets.
The night as a highlight in its own right
The standout feature of the edition was night-time ridership, up sharply. The night of the Braderie is no longer the preserve of a hardy few: it now draws a crowd that arrives late and leaves at dawn, shifting network load into hours that used to be quiet.
What it tells you about the right instinct
These figures confirm what the streets already showed: during the Braderie, the car is the worst way to approach the centre. Parking saturates, streets close, and drop-off points end up far from the perimeter.

Planning for 2027
Three habits stand out from the weekend: buy your ticket in advance to skip the machine queues, aim for an outlying station rather than the centre, and plan the Sunday evening return, the tightest slot of the weekend.
